Chinese Dance 中國舞

Classical Chinese dance movement technique utilizes breathing and imagery to enhance overall body and mind wellness. The class will include barre work and center exercises that increase body flexibility and coordination while toning muscle and improving posture. Add a fun journey to learn about the Chinese culture and history through folk dances originated from the 56 ethnic minority groups of China! Classes will be conducted in English, with terminology and vocabulary introduced in Cantonese and Mandarin.

Beijing Dance Academy Chinese Dance Syllabus Examination 北京舞蹈學院 考級班

Beijing Dance Academy is the highest institute of dance in China. It is the only syllabus recognized both by the Chinese and Canadian government. The syllabus runs from grade 1 to 13. The content of the syllabus includes:

  • Chinese classical dance (techniques and body aesthetics)

  • Chinese national and folk dances

  • Dance rhythm training

BC Ministry of Education Graduation Credits - 12 credits will be awarded towards fine arts and/or applied skills through the external credential program upon successful completion of the syllabus as follows:

  • 4 credits for completing CDSE 7 at the high school Grade 10 level

  • 4 credits for completing CDSE 8 at the high school Grade 11 level

  • 4 credits for completing CDSE 9 at the high school Grade 12 level

 

Creative Dance 創意律動 啓蒙舞蹈

Develop children with imagination, body coordination and balance in a creative environment. Children will be introduced to basic ballet techniques, as well as gaining spatial awareness and rhythmic skills through the use of props and moving to music.

*Suitable for children age 3 - 4. No dance background required.

Low impact workout that includes ballet barre techniques, aerobics and stretching.

Barre Fit:

  • Ballet barre techniques to sculpt and strengthen body

  • Enhance balance and improve posture

Dance Fit:

  • Fun and upbeat choreography with basic dance techniques

Stretch & Strength:

  • Core and abs strengthening

  • Increase body flexibility
